Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) joins AIR in quest for better air quality 20 Apr 2018
Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK)
The Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) is a non-profit public interest research entity, which is more than half a century old. Its aim of excellence in science and technology is achieved through two scientific hubs, seven research centres, seven laboratories and more than 400 researchers. The foundation strives to attract talent and resources, inspire social and technical innovation, and support local communities.
FBK constantly monitors opportunities to collaborate with research organisations, both institutional and corporate, national and international, to extend its own innovation capability, as well as to share knowledge and technologies with the community and local economy. As a top research institute in Italy, the foundation was ranked in first place by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System (ANVUR) for scientific excellence in ICT, history and sociology, as well as for economic and social impact.
FBK and its emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches align with AIR’s central principle of using independent on-road emissions data to make informed policy and manufacturing decisions for cleaner air. FBK membership allows AIR to remain entirely independent and strengthen the alliance’s mission to improve air quality through the voluntary uptake of on-road emissions testing, while driving its impartial role in the ongoing air quality debate. The foundation will support AIR in a scientific manner, helping automotive manufacturers and city regulators to make use of accurate, independent data to improve air quality.
